Dar Vande Voort specializes in portraiture while delving into a variety of other visual subject matter.

Artist Statement

My artwork has evolved considerably over the years. I work in oil, pastel and mixed media. Combining mediums is not only fun and challenging, but also rewarding, as it helps me make a stronger statement. I specialize in portrayals and capture their essence through critical value shifts with pastel and textural shifts with collage. I want the viewer to question the reality v. illusion. These pictures scream color, light texture and technique regardless of the subject matter. The creation process is as important as the art.
